Function Of The Endothelium https://drthomaslodi.com/function-of-… The function of the endothelium is multifold. It is the lining of the blood vessels. It is the only thing that is ever in touch with the blood. The blood never gets to the cells. The blood gets to the capillaries, the endothelium, the lining of the capillary, and stuff diffuses back and forth, however, the blood stays there. Blood is always in touch with just the endothelium. The endothelium if it were looked at as an organ it would do everything. It is where inflammation comes from and it is where healing comes from. The endothelium is a very important part of the body that no one ever talks about. Inflammation is how the body heals; it is not a bad thing unless it is chronic inflammation. Acute inflammation is absolutely great. It gets red, hot, there’s swelling and it’s painful. This means that it is healing. The endothelium plays a critical role in peripheral vascular disease, strokes, heart disease, diabetes, kidney failure, tumors, metastasis, blood clots, and severe viral infections. All the work of the body fighting these things is taking place in the endothelium.    • Health and Disease   #functionoftheendothelium #roleofendothelium #drthomaslodi
